Partner Nick Barnard is quoted in Law360 and eprivateclient, after the Serious Fraud Office (UK) used a Crypto-Wallet Freezing Order (CWFO) for the first time.
While the SFO lauds this as a bold first step, Nick says, the CWFO regime has been force over a year and has only now been used to freeze – not seize – the relatively small sum of £10,000. In fairness to the SFO, he adds, it is likely that the opportunity to use a CWFO has not previously arisen.
