Partner David Corker has written to the Financial Times regarding the Serious Fraud Office’s dismal trial record.
“Changing the law, as the SFO advocates, will not remedy existing problems. All it achieves is helping to create an illusion of effectiveness for law enforcement communities, especially the SFO. To truly be effective and fulfil its mandate, the SFO needs to show that its prosecutions are sound and that they can win in court. Its dismal record at trial is the problem which needs fixing.”
