Following David Cameron’s recent announcement of a crackdown on corrupt property investors in the UK, Corker Binning Partner Jessica Parker has appeared on Sky News to discuss the difficulty of tracking corrupt money in the property market:
“If you have a property and it is owned by Company A, that company may be owned by Company B, and that company may be owned by a trust structure. Each of those structures might be registered in different jurisdictions and there will be different registration requirements in each of those jurisdictions. It makes it very difficult for law enforcement agencies to trace who owns what.”
