As Latham & Watkins announces the arrival of Stuart Alford QC, SFO director David Green says the revolving door is good for both the agency and the careers of its staff.
Alford is to leave the UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in September for Latham & Watkins in London, where he will become a partner in the firm’s white-collar and regulatory practices. At the SFO, Alford is joint head of fraud along with Jane de Lozey and Clare Whitaker.

Peter Binning at Corker Binning in London said Latham & Watkins’ decision to hire Alford shows that US firms believe that the SFO will bring a stream of cases in the future. He added that Alford is a high-calibre lawyer, but the agency will be able to attract quality recruits to replace him.
