Robert Brown comments on the 2011 riots in the UK and contrasts the law between the UK and the Ukraine relating to public order and the types of sentences imposed.
He said “All detainees were given harsher punishments than usual. To give an example, if somebody had stolen something from a shop, say a bottle of vodka or anything else, they would have had to pay a penalty and that’s all. But in this case they were jailed for stealing. No communal work, no conditional terms, just straight to jail.”
