Corker Binning acted as co-counsel to ENRC
On 24th August 2023, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) announced the closure of investigation into Eurasian Natural Resources Company (ENRC Limited, formerly ENRC Plc) and connected individuals.
The multi-jurisdictional investigation, concerning bribery allegations related to mining contracts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was one of the longest running in SFO history, having been opened in April 2013.
Following its latest review of the investigation, the SFO closed the case on the basis that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute.
Corker Binning, led by partner Peter Binning together with partner Nick Barnard, acted for ENRC in the SFO investigation from April 2022 with Fieldfisher’s corporate crime team as co-counsel, and instructed Clare Montgomery KC of Matrix Chambers.
